Minister of State inaugurates National Conclave on Tribal Languages and Museums in Mysuru

The three-day conclave, organised by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs with the Central Institute of Indian Languages and the Government of Karnataka, brought together work on documenting and revitalising tribal languages with a track on tribal museums.

Durga Das Uikey inaugurated the conclave on 24 August 2026. Reports of the opening session record the release of tribal-language primers for Karnataka, a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry and the Central Institute of Indian Languages, and an upgrade to the Adi Vaani platform. He said the Ministry would consider setting up a permanent Tribal Museum in Mysuru.

The demand to include left-out communities of Sikkim in the Scheduled Tribe list was later the subject of a Rajya Sabha answer he gave, which set out the procedure: a State recommendation, followed by the concurrence of the Registrar General of India and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes.

831 mobile medical units operating under PM-JANMAN, Lok Sabha told

In a written answer, the Minister of State reported 831 mobile medical units operational under PM-JANMAN as on 30 June 2026, and 15 Centres of Competence for sickle cell disease approved under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan.
